A mare from Johnston County was surrendered and transported to USERL. She is in her mid-thirties, in very thin condition and has few teeth - but is bright and alert. Dutchess is on a special diet of "mush" while her health is evaluated.

Dutchess has slowly improved and is eating quite well now. She was having problems when she arrived due to very aged teeth, missing teeth, and a slow digestive rate. She's now starting to gain weight and is quite active for a gal her age.
