May 4th, 2009:
A group of 3 horses was donated from a family having hardship.  One, an orphaned 4 month old foal (pictured above far left), was in critical need of care and severely underweight.  The other two, a Palomino mare and her older foal, were also in poor body condition.  All are in quarantine and doing well.  The orphan foal is fighting gastric ulcers and a complex of "what am I".  Having never been with horses, she didn't know normal equine behavior.  Now named "Bitsy", the foal has been buddied with another young horse to show her the ropes of horse life.  Bitsy is now eating horse feed and hay better and gaining strength.

2010 update!

Look at them now!  The orphan foal, named Bitsy, came along slowly in the beginning of rehab.  Once stabilized, she was moved to a foster home and continued to do very well.  The foster has adopted her!
Mia, the Palomino mare, has also done very well and is now up for adoption.  She is trained under saddle and needs an intermediate level rider.
Rhianna, the Palomino filly, was feral when she arrived and took only a few weeks to win her over to domestication.  She's done very well and is currently looking for an adoptive home.
