This fellow arrived April 10, 2008. He was rescued by a private citizen who then could not afford his rehab care. He is possibly foundered (at the very least very overgrown hooves) and severely overweight, needing frequent trims to get his hooves back in order.
"Tank", as he's affectionately known by now, is a very sweet boy with a tolerant nature for anything.
Tank is as affectionate as they come. His badly overgrown hooves will need careful trimming, and possible founder issues addressed as needed.
On Barn Days April 12th, a USERL volunteer - Jackie Dean - patiently clips Tank to remove his excess haircoat. Several trims will be necessary as Tank had lots of hair!

May 10, 2008:
One month in the care of a rehabilitation foster for USERL has made a big difference in Tank's life. His hooves have had several trims and so has his haircoat! Tank is now comfortable and looking alittle trimmer than when he arrived to USERL. And as luck would have it, Tank's been at the adoptive home of Sassy, who is delighted with her new friend. The photos below were taken this past Saturday. No two cuter and happier ponies exist!
Tank's hooves after several farrier trims. He is now comfortable and pain-free. It will still be several months until his hooves are completely back to normal.
